I got this client because I went to a networking event and gave a 30 second pitch about my birthday club website. It wouldn't have mattered if the site was up for three days. It gets peoples attention because no one has anything like it.
He's paying me $300 a month, not for a listing on the site, but for my birthday/loyalty club and other marketing services.
Will you get $300 a month from clients? It depends on your confidence level. It would be a longshot for a novice I think but getting $100 a month for simple birthday/loyalty club services is very realistic particularly if you attend a few networking events in your area.

2)Buy that domain name from Godaddy.com It will cost you around $3-$15 to own that domain name for one year depending on any promos going on at the time and how many domains you already own.
The hosting is around $8 a month but I'll handle that for your first year...that's a savings of almost $100.
3)Contact restaurants in your area and ask if they have a birthday deal. You can do this via email or phone but phone is much faster. It's like calling and asking for a reservation. Very easy!

4)Get a nice looking header for your website. This will run you $5 or so at Fiverr.com

There are just too many variables. Sure, it probably costs me sales but I’m OK with that. My integrity and being able to look at myself in the mirror is more important. But here is my plan…
I will never charge a business to be listed on the site but will offer FEATURED LISTINGS that would automatically be at the top of a category. You of course, are free to charge for all listings.
I think a good starting point is $100 a month which would include a featured listing and an email to people in their zip code with a birthday coming up. You could have a dozen or more featured listings per site.
The average birthday table at a restaurant is worth $80 so it’s a valuable service based on the fact that hundreds of people in your area have a birthday every day.
But you need to build up the traffic before you can reasonably expect to charge for advertising. How long does that take? There is no way to estimate that. Some will undoubtedly get lucky and advertisers will approach them but most will have to wait for momentum to build.
Q. Is one of your people already doing this in my area?
A. I have hundreds of people who are interested in this. I couldn’t possibly keep track of them all. Go to GoDaddy.com and search for the domain name you want.
Q. What if someone already has the domain I want?
A. Several options...did they get the area code? 123BirthdayClub.com? Pick a county name instead and focus on being the primary source of birthday deals for that county. SmithCountyBirthdayClub.com Do the same for City or district names. For example Buckhead is the name of a district in Atlanta. BuckheadBirthdayClub.com
You don't have to use BirthdayClub...you could use BirthdayDeals or BirthdayFeebies for example.
Q. How many businesses need to be in my site to make it look good?
A. I'd say 40 should be your first goal. In my experience 40% of the businesses I contacted had a birthday deal. That means if you have at least 100 food related businesses in the area you're covering you'll have a good looking site pretty quickly.
A. It depends! (How is that for informative.) The "heavy-lifting" is done getting your site full. It took me about 10 hours to get my 60 deals found and listed. You can do 10-20 minutes here and there if needed. After your site is full then it becomes a process of getting visitors and subscribers to your email list. That doesn't take too long at all....simple 5 minute actions every day.
Q How much is the investment in this program?
